After celebrating my August 25th 60th Birthday all year, like magic, this story printed in the Dayton Daily News right on that day!

Got that bucket list 100 miler done a few weeks before hitting 60 years young.

Below is a digital version of the print story, edited from the longer printed column.

It was wonderful to have a mainstream media source interested in my minimalist running, post cancer lifestyle changes, dietary changes, running adventures, family life, etc. Great on one hand, but a bit concerning that more people are not looking for more ways to address the root causes of concerns vs prolonging a tolerable level of symptoms.

On July 31st, I ran the Burning River 100 miler up on Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio and finished in Xero Z-Trail sandals the whole way sans socks just in time, with only 17 minutes left on the clock. I’d been doing some speed work to prepare for a Sept. 11th Boston Qualifier attempt at the Erie Marathon. And, three days after my 60th birthday, I ran the North Country 50K in the Manistee National Forest up in gorgeous Michigan! It was all a bit much, too much speed work and a 50K too close to the Erie Marathon! But, I was pleased to go sub four hours at the Erie Marathon with a time of 3:58:13. A sub 3:50 was needed for the Boston Qualifier, so that goal will have to be pursued again some other time.
